Where healing begins within.
You’ve done the work. And your body still hasn’t gotten the message.
You've read the books. You've sat in the sessions. You've built real insight into why you feel the way you feel. And you're still bracing. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Still exhausted in a way that's hard to explain to anyone who hasn't lived it.
This isn't a failure of effort or intelligence. It's where talk therapy reaches its limit, and where the body becomes the path forward.
I'm Marta Olson, a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner with 35+ years of experience in body-centered healing. I work with people who've done the cognitive work and hit a ceiling. People who are ready to heal at the level where the wound actually lives, in the nervous system, in the body, in the places that formed before there were words for any of it.
If this sounds like you, you’re in the right place.
You understand your patterns. You can trace them. You've done years of therapy and you have the insight to show for it. But the anxiety still arrives without warning. The tension in your body doesn't release, no matter what you try. You look fine on the outside. You're exhausted on the inside.
You've wondered more than once: Is this as good as it gets?
It isn't. But thinking your way through it isn't the path forward. Your nervous system doesn't speak in thoughts. It speaks in sensation, breath, and the felt sense of safety. That's the language I work in.
Somatic Experiencing® and NeuroAffective Touch® - integrated healing for the full spectrum of the wound.
If you’ve been feeling like you’ve hit a ceiling in your healing, there’s a reason. Not because you haven’t worked hard enough, or chosen the right therapist, or done the right things. But because the part of you that’s still struggling isn’t living in your thoughts. It’s living in your body.
My practice is built on two modalities that work together to reach exactly that layer.
Somatic Experiencing® works bottom-up, through the body rather than the mind, to gently release the survival energy stored in your nervous system from overwhelming experiences. It doesn't require you to retell your story. It works with what your body is holding right now.
NeuroAffective Touch® adds the healing language of safe, attuned physical contact, reaching the pre-verbal, developmental layer of trauma that talk therapy and even SE alone can't always access. It is gentle, consensual, and always in service of your nervous system's regulation.
Together, they reach the full spectrum of what you're carrying, from the survival responses that fire without warning to the earliest patterns of how you learned to feel safe, or not, in relationship.
In Northern Nevada, this specific integrated combination is rare. I've spent 35+ years in body-based healing, and I believe this is the most complete approach available for people who've done the cognitive work and still feel stuck.
Advanced Training: Touch Skills for Trauma with Kathy Kain PHD
Alongside SE and NAT, my work is informed by advanced training with Kathy Kain, PhD, one of the foremost voices in touch-based trauma therapy.
Her teaching rests on a clinical understanding that changes how you listen to the body. Trauma isn't held only in the nervous system. It's also held in the tissues, in the connective structure, in the physical patterns your body organized around to survive.
This training adds depth and precision to how I work. It refines the way I attune to what your body is carrying, and it supports the slower, quieter layers of healing that live underneath the more acute survival responses.
Together with Somatic Experiencing and NeuroAffective Touch, it allows the work to unfold at the pace your body is ready for, not the pace your mind wants it to go.
Kathy Kain, PhD
What becomes possible when your nervous system finally feels safe.
You wake up and the anxiety isn't the first thing waiting for you.
You can be present with the people you love, close, without the glass wall.
You trust your own reactions again. You lead from clarity instead of adrenaline. You stop bracing for a threat that never comes.
You feel, for the first time in a long time, at home in your own body.
This is not a promise of perfection. It's what I see in the room, over and over, as the nervous system gradually learns what safety actually feels like. It doesn't happen all at once. But it does happen.
Testimonial
“Before working with Marta, I had been in talk therapy for two years and understood so much logically, but my nervous system still felt constantly triggered and overwhelmed. Marta helped me feel safe, notice what was happening in my body, and slowly return to calm. I feel lighter, experience fewer panic attacks, and now have tools to regulate myself more quickly.”

About Marta
Marta Olson, SEP
I'm a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) through Somatic Experiencing International, a rigorous 3-year training process. I've been practicing body-centered healing for 35+ years, and I opened Breath Body Works in Minden, Nevada in 2013 with a single mission: to offer my community drug-free, body-centered alternatives for healing trauma, pain, and chronic stress.
My work has evolved over those years toward SE and NeuroAffective Touch because I've seen, again and again, that this is where the deepest and most lasting change lives, not in the mind alone, but in the body's felt experience of safety.
I bring a deeply compassionate, body-informed approach to this work because I know firsthand how much the body can hold, and how powerful it can be when healing happens at the pace the nervous system is ready for. My role is to offer a safe, attuned space where clients can begin to reconnect with themselves, listen to what their body is communicating, and gently move toward greater regulation, ease, and wholeness.
Not sure if this is right for you? Let's talk.
